    Heya!

    I'm Lucy Li!

I'm a creative wedding and family photographer currently based in the coolest (and windiest!) little capital in the world, Wellington - NZ. I'm the crazy girl in the pool in my wedding dress (photo taken by the incredible Danelle Bohane). Before becoming a professional photographer, I worked in London at Christie's (the world's largest auction house). I now call photography my art. I love creating unique moody images and telling a story with each one - the ones that make you feel something, but are also really, really creative and cool. I LOVE an adventure and to travel so, if you have any wild plans for a shoot, don't hold back!

    HANNAH AND CHARLIE

"Our idea was that we were inviting 135 of our closest friends and family to join us for dinner at our home. We wanted the day to feel intimate, colourful, genuine and joyful. For us the day was all about people, the people who had supported us on our shared and individual journeys so we wanted it to feel personal and not too bridal. CHARLOTTE & SIMON

"On one of our last trips before returning to New Zealand (and some 11 years after we had first met), Simon proposed with his grandmother’s ring after he convinced Charlotte to climb a cliff to a small quaint whitewashed chapel set into the rock above Perissa beach, Santorini." ALEX & TOM

Alex and Tom's wedding was nothing short of incredible. They got married in Auckland and their reception was at the stunning newly built Morningside Glasshouse. They arrived into the venue on Tom's Vespa - definitely the most awesome entrance I've ever seen!

"Our sparkler exit was incredible. I’d asked my dad the previous year to pick up some sparklers while fireworks were on sale. He accidentally bought a box which had all sorts of fireworks in it. Everyone in the wedding had a sparkler and we walked back down the aisle with all our family & friends surrounding us, smiling and cheering. When the groomsmen found out about the extra fireworks – we were treated to an impromptu fireworks display over the farm. It’s a moment I know neither of us will ever forget and I smile every time I see those photos."

For us the day was all about people, the people who had supported us on our shared and individual journeys so we wanted it to feel personal and not too bridal. We wanted the takeaway for our guests to be a feeling rather than a look. We had long tables with white cloths, brass candlesticks, natural beeswax candles, pillar candles and bright blooms in coloured glass vases. Again, the idea being that it felt like home."

"Lucy Li is world class. Lucy captured our wedding in Wellington and the best way to describe her work is WOW!! What an absolutely amazing job she did. Lucy’s photos are exceptional. When you meet Lucy, you will realise what we mean by the description “one of the warmest and most positive people on earth”. Lucy is incredibly professional and goes about her work in a way that makes you feel at ease, in turn, this provides for a fantastic capture of the memories that bring your special moment to life, every time you reminisce and look at the photos. We couldn’t recommend Lucy enough and look forward to a life time of friendship as she captures our special moments over the years ahead. Lucy Li Photography is destined for greatness."

"Lucy made our family sitting so comfortable! Her easy going & relaxed nature made for a super casual atmosphere. We are thrilled with the finished result & she did a wonderful job of capturing our family in the most natural & endearing way! Thank you so much Lucy, we’ll be back again!"

"Lucy Li is such a talent. Her way with people and amazing eye for photography means she captures the most beautiful little moments in a way that is so natural and un-posed. We absolutely adore the pictures she took of our wee family and can’t wait to have more sessions with her in the future."

"Lucy did such beautiful work photographing our family on my daughter's second birthday. She was immediately a hit with our daughter and put us all at ease. She very cleverly captured many treasured moments amongst the chaos of the birthday party, and then again as we took a walk in the hills. After such a successful first shoot we then asked Lucy to photograph our family Christmas lunch of 20 people! She effortlessly moved amongst all of us getting so many beautiful shots, without interrupting the dynamic of the event at all. We were all so impressed and will treasure these photos forever. We so look forward to having Lucy along to our next family milestone!"

"Lucy Li is such a positive, beautiful and inspiring photographer. She makes you feel so incredibly comfortable and makes it feel like it's just you and your partner in the room. She makes you smile so naturally and knows all your best angles. There wasn't a single photo we didn't love. The way she lights her photographs makes it look so incredibly dreamy. We couldn't recommend a better, more lovely and talented photographer. You and your fiancé will be blown away by her talent."
